Catholic Campus Ministry at Northern Michigan University (CCM@NMU) is a Catholic outreach serving the students and Alumni of NMU in Marquette, MI. We strive to provide a community for our students to encounter Christ and grow in faith. Our weekly programs and special activities support the students in these endeavours. Our facility is considered a homebase for many of our students; to hang out and study, to grab a quick snack, or just kick back and relax.
Campus ministry is supported by the Diocese of Marquette and St Michael's Catholic Parish. it is one of 3 campus ministries in the diocese. St Al's at Michigan Tech in Houghton and the Newman Center at LSSU in Sault Sainte Marie.

Fr. Dustin Larson
Fr. Dustin Larson is the Chaplain of Catholic Campus Ministry, as well as the Associate Pastor of St. Michael's and St. Christopher's in Marquette. He spent the past two years serving as the Associate Pastor at St. Albert the Great in Houghton at Michigan Tech's Campus Ministry.
Fr. Dustin is passionate about teaching others how to pray and encounter Jesus in their daily lives. He is always up for a pick-up game of soccer or ultimate frisbee, and enjoys hikes and snowshoeing.
Favorite Saint: Mary, St Joseph, St Therese of Lisieux...Carmelites in general are pretty awesome!

Kendra Youren
Kendra is CCM’s Administrative Assistant and “College Mom”. She is originally from Niagara, WI and has a dual degree in art from UW-Milwaukee where she was involved with her Campus Ministry. In 2008 she moved to Chile where she taught English and met her husband, Miguel.
Now in Marquette with her husband and three daughters, Kendra brings her interest of liturgical living and talent of encouraging others to grow in faith with Christ to CCM. She takes care of all the students (hence the name “Mom”) and is always willing to listen, give helpful advice, and is a positive presence who is loved by everyone!
Favorite Saint: St John Paul the GREAT! St Catherine Laboure, St Therese of Lisieux, Bl Pier Giorgio Frassati, and Our Lady (in all her varying titles and wardrobe changes).

Sr. Delfina Tede, SPC
Sister Delfina comes all the way from Indonesia! She has been a member of the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres for 39 years. She spent the past two years in Cameroon, and joined us in Marquette in July, 2019.
Sister is invested in the students here at CCM, attending the weekly Bible study and Food For Thought, as well as constantly showing her care and love for each and every individual.
Her mission at CCM is to provide pastoral care and spiritual formation with the youth, as well as help students develop a relationship with Jesus. She says her most rewarding experience at CCM is watching students gather together to talk about Jesus and forming stronger relationships with him.

Peer Ministers

"Forming Catholic Leaders for Today and the Future"
There are four Peer Ministers at CCM and they are in charge of organizing our weekly Food For Thought, Bible Study, Mass Ministries for the student Mass, social media, the newsletter, and other activities. Along with this they come in for “office hours” and are ready and willing to communicate with and be there for other students.
CCM receives a grant from the Legacy of Faith fund provided through the U.P. Catholic Foundation to help offset the costs of our Peer Minister Program. Legacy of Faith is an endowment fund that supports evangelization and faith initiatives throughout parishes, schools, and organizations in the Diocese of Marquette.

Meet our Peer Ministers

Erica ChartierErica is a sophomore from Comstock Park, MI, studying nursing.
She became involved in campus ministry because she loves the Catholic community she gets to be a part of. Everyone is so nice and kind, and you can always count on them to be there for you and push you to grow in your faith.
Erica’s favorite part about being a Peer Minister is getting to set up for mass and plan the adoration nights. It’s such a unique experience she couldn’t get anywhere else, and it is such an honor to help prepare for worship.
Her favorite saint is Saint Pope John Paul II because of a story she heard about him a year ago: When he went out on tours or had to walk to get somewhere, his “assistants” had to make sure their path didn’t come across any churches because if they did pass one, JPII would say, “Chapel?” and go inside and spend hours upon hours with Jesus. Erica strives to have a faith as strong as JPII, so strong that she wants to spend any chance she can with Jesus.
Fun fact about Erica: She absolutely loves green beans, and has many cans in her room so whenever she gets hungry she can heat them up and have a delicious snack.

Annika Enders
Annika is a junior from Stevens Point, WI, majoring in Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management.
She joined CCM because growing up her family was (and still is) involved with the college students at church and the Newman Center. Witnessing how awesome these students were really influenced her to become one herself.
Annika’s favorite thing about being a Peer Minister is the opportunity to have a positive impact on everyone she meets and a place to be able to create and spread joy with others.
Her favorite saints are Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati and St. Mother Teresa because of their devotion to caring for the sick and the poor, and commitment to living simply.
Fun fact about Annika: Unicycling, rock climbing, coloring in coloring books, and smelling flowers are some of her favorite ways to pass the time.

Katie McNewKatie is a senior from Flint, MI, studying biology.
She decided to join CCM because it is a home away from home, a wonderful place to build friendships, and it strengthens her faith by encouraging her to ask questions and get involved.
Katie enjoys being a Peer Minister because she loves being there for her peers, providing support however she can, and being a part of something everyone can participate in and enjoy together.
Her favorite saint is St. Kateri Tekakwitha because she is her patron saint and she made little crosses out of sticks and placed them throughout the woods when she prayed, just like Kateri did!
Fun fact about Katie: During the summer of 2019 she interned at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium in Florida and worked with dolphins!

Tony Schafer
Tony is a sophomore from Batavia, IL, majoring in Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management.
He joined CCM because his faith has always been an important part of his life. He knew that if he wanted to keep his faith strong during his college years he needed to get involved.
Tony's favorite part of being a Peer Minister is being able to form relationships with the people who come to CCM. He also very much enjoys his duty of leading a discussion group and having intellectual and stimulating conversations about theology, philosophy, and the goings on of our every day lives.
His favorite saint is Saint Maximillion Kolbe because of his heroic witness to the Gospel and to the people he was with.
Fun Fact about Tony: He has been to 30 National Parks.
