I am Sr. Fidelia Villa, SPC, a religious missionary from the Philippines. I belong to the Congregation of the Sisters of St. Paul de Chartres. My parents are both deceased and I have three sisters and two brothers. A veterinarian by profession, I worked for four years before entering the convent.
I am blessed to have a diverse missionary experience: from serving the indigenous peoples in the mountains of Mindanao, Philippines, teaching children in the Oahu Island of Hawaii and to being a pastoral worker at St. Francis Connection Center in KI Sawyer, Michigan.
I look forward to accompanying the young adults in their journey of faith at NMU’s Catholic Campus Ministry. I quote St. Paul’s words, in 2 Corinthians 5:14, “ For the love of Christ impels us”, to guide me in my new mission.
How many years have you been a sister? (from novitiate) 23 years
Favorite Food: Adobo Favorite color: Blue! Like Mother Mary!!!
Book you're reading right now:"The Secrets of the Holy Rosary" by St Louis de Montfort. Perfect since it's the month of the Holy Rosary.
Earliest Catholic Memory: "I was between 3 or 4 years old when my maternal grandmother, who was very religious, took me into a church. I was wearing a short white lace veil. She was the first person to teach me to make the sign of the cross."
What do you enjoy about serving at CCM? "I'm inspired to see these young people being passionate for Jesus; their love is very palpable. It makes it so easy for me to share my encounter with the Lord with them. They have such an openness and hunger for the Lord. I think that CCM is a place where these young people encounter the Lord in the Sacraments, and the Holy Word of the Scriptures. It challenges me to deepen my own relationship with the Lord. I'm a student too!!! We all learn from each other. It's a mutual desire to have this deep relationship with Jesus. I also want to say what an amazing job Fr. Dustin, the FOCUS Missionaries and Kendra "College Mom" are doing at CCM. I also can't forget to mention the prayer and Eucharistic Adoration that is being done and how it's impacting the lives of the students individually and for us as a community!"
